One day in Paris with kids

Our second part of the trip was in Paris. I love this city!!!

You can imagine that trying to move with 4 kids and 8 adults is not always easy, but we spent a nice day in Paris.

First we went to Luxembourg Gardens, amazing.

We went to the playground, it is incredible but you need to pay for the kids but also the adults!! When you arrive to the gate, the kids knew perfectly they want to go inside and they don't understand about paying or not, so we went there. It is true that the playground had nice things but as always we finished playing in the sand.

A recommendation, if you need to go to the bathroom go inside the playground, the toilet outside is for a fee.

The playground is very well located in front of a terrace where the friends "without kids" can enjoy a beer in calm.

amigos que cargan con niñas/ friends that load up kids

After the lunch in a brasserie close to the Park, we went walking to Notre-dame. It is an amazing stroll and of course the Cathedral is impressive. We spent a little bit of time resting there since the kids were sleeping their nap.

After that, we went to Ile de Saint Louis looking for an ice cream, we and the million tourist in Paris had the same idea so amazing the queues to get one. But the area is very nice just for a stroll.

And exhausted we finished our day in Paris with 4 kids!!!

Versailles with kids

We are back home, after being in Paris for a few days.

Our holidays could be divided in two parts. The first days we have been in Javi and Nono's mansion in Versailles. They are a couple who moved from Spain to Paris, you can read their adventures in Nono's blog. We could say that we invaded their house. From the calm and silence of a lovely couple living with their dog, Menta (the best dog ever in history) to have 4 kids screaming and disturbing the dog all the time. "Short visits are nice, I imagine they are now thinking on having a rest in their living room/cinema that they have in their house. The second part of our holidays will be our visit to Paris with 4 kids and our days with the Metulesco's  family. A fabulous family we met in London and they left us very soon to Paris.

I have enjoyed Versailles. Of course the Palace and the garden are awesome. We had bad luck with the weather as we tried to visit twice and both days was raining, but we enjoyed it with a short stroll around the gardens.

Because the rain we decided to go to the city centre. On Friday is the food market with all the stands outside in the square. Everything with beautiful appearance. How much I miss traditional food markets!!!

We had lunch in a nice Brasserie, just in the same square. The food was incredible and they had a corner with books for the kids. How simple is to do make life easy in a restaurant with kids. After lunch we walked around the pedestrian streets with all the small shops. About shopping will leave it for another post if not I will not finish ever.

Muy recomendable un paseo por Versalles.
Very advisable a stroll in Versailles.

De regalo después de tanta lluvia:
We had a nice present after all the rain:

Mañana nuestro paseo por París. No te lo pierdas!!
Tomorrow, our stroll in Paris with kids. Don't miss it!!

Oxford with kids

To go to Oxford with hangover and 2 kids, it's got its merit.

Fortunately we have the car, as you can see http://molondo.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/practical-things-living-london-car.html, so we don't have limits. Last weekend we had sunny days, so accompanied by my father, we went to visit Oxford. It is 1 hour by car from London, but is very well communicated by bus and train.

When we arrived, first of all we got a city map to check where are the most important things to visit. Our first decision was to take the touristic bus, that allows you to see the city in 50 minutes so the girls doesn't get tired. It is a very good option. I never liked it but I think with kids is a very good choice...until Olivia needs to do wee wee and we have to get off....

For me Oxford has 2 different sides, the city centre with the pedestrian streets with all the shops and pubs and in the other hand "The Colleges". In Oxford there are 38 colleges, you can pay and visit it. We chose The Trinity College. It's located in the city centre, you pay 2 pounds and you can go inside the chapel, library and dinning room and of course you can walk around all the communal areas.

For lunch we chose a Pub and after that we put the blanket in a big garden to have a nap and we had ice cream, this always helps.

Que gusto hacer excursiones con buen tiempo!!!
A nice plan with good weather!!!

My last creation: Liberty dresses for my girls

As I showed you by Instagram  a few weeks ago (http://instagram.com/p/lQPf-wKQzK/), I went to buy fabric to do dresses for summer.
Liberty, I love this fabric, it is not very cheap, but everything you do with it is nice.

I bought it in a shop in Old Brompton Road where they have a lot of fabric. The ground floor is all about Liberty and you can find the fabric for this year or years before more cheaper. I recommend it to you because you will find a lot of fabric to choose, the web is: http://www.shaukat.co.uk

Estas telas fueron mis elegidas:
Those were the chosen fabrics:

With the blue one I did nice skirts. Super easy to do it, you only need to do the waist and put a bottom or a zip and add it to a rectangle with the width you want to have the skirt:

To do the dresses, my sister lend me a magazine with patrons, " Espejito espejito", it's not my style but at the end you can find nice classic patrons.

I have choose a dress folded at the front, to have something in the dress ( I though it will be easy just to have folders on the front....but at the end never is as easy as you think at the beginning). It is true that I am very happy with my dress

My theory is if you are not a sew expert, as me, if you have nice fabric as Liberty's, you probably can do something nice with it,  even if the seam doesn't look perfect..

In the next post you will see how nice are with their Liberty dresses

The fashionable bracelets from Spain have arrived to our lives. I saw posts with the bracelets and after that I found out that  my niece who is 5 years old was addicted. I always thought that Matilda with 4 was too young to do it, at the end you need fine skills to hook the elastics but after 2 weeks in Spain, we came back with a lot of bags of elastics. Here in London is not fashionable, so we have a business opportunity..

I need to say, that I think she is to young to be addicted. She begins one but she stops quite fast. I help her doing a little bit to encourage her to finish it. She has her list for who is all the bracelets she is going to do, lets see...

If you want to learn how to do it, I recommended the Baballa blog, I can't do it better than her:
http://stylelovely.com/baballa/2014/03/21/tutorial-como-hacer-pulseras-de-gomas/

On top of that, don't forget it to travel. It is a great idea to entertain for a long period:

Cosas practicas vivir London: Coche

Today I want to tell you a "practical thing" when you live in London. These things that you realize when you are living here.

As everything, it depends if you are used to have a car or not. In our case we always had a car in Madrid, not for all days but it is more comfortable if you have it. Here in London it's the same. It is true that depends a lot where you live, we are living in a neighborhood where is easy to park and our borough is huge. But since we arrived to London we missed a lot the car, not to use all days but to do things in the weekends. Move with two kids in this city is not very easy because the distances are huge. So I am sure that it will be more easy to move to visit other areas. Now we can go more far away.

Now we need to get used to drive with the steering on the other side and to go always on the left side, it is easier than you can imagine.

Mejor evitarlo...

To have the car you need administrative papers:

* Insurances are expensive. You need to prove your "claim of proof", it is a proof that you haven't had a claim in the car in the last 2 years driving in the Uk or Ireland. Without it you don't get a discount and makes it expensive or age.
* Parking permit, it depends of the borough. You can get it in the moment and the amount depends on the car and how much it pollutes .
* Road tax is a sticker that all the cars have, it's a tax that depends on how your car pollutes
* MOT for the cars with more than 3 years, it is easy as you can get it some garages.
* Congestion charge, it's the tax you have pay when you drive inside the city centre. They have cameras which take a picture and you pay in a web page. 8 pounds per day. Better to avoid it....

Now you are ready to drive in London and surroundings, enjoy!!!

We are on birthday: Mi primer año de blog

Estamos de cumpleaños!!!
We are on birthday!!!

My blog has his first year. Who was going to tell me that I could write a blog. Before moving to London, I didn't even have Facebook... ( In my style, I thought that I began the blog in may and it was in April, so we are one month late, but I wanted to share the birthday with you...)

First of all, I want to say THANKS!!! To all the people who are reading my blog all the weeks. It is true that I get excited when I check the people who follow me, and I appreciate a lot the people I don't know and they read Molondo and they like it, Guaooo.

My first year of Molondo can be summarize in more than 100 post about London where I show you plans to do in London with kids, amazing restaurants, crafts and DIY we try to do, nice shops and practical things to live in London. The essence of Molondo is to show you this incredible city and to share our lives with you.

On the top of that, I had more than 12,000 visits!!!

It's true that I never suspected that writing a blog could be so addictive, but also demanding, you need time to write all the weeks, but it is rewarding more than enough.

I had a break point thanks to my  "3 Wise Men" present, the Hello Creatividad course. I  recommended it here hello creatividad.  Basically it showed me what means my blog to me, try to position Molondo in the social network and made me feel part of an amazing blog group. On top of that, I am very proud of my new design of Molondo, thank you Marta!!!

I hope to continue telling a lot of things about London and of course I hope you will be there enjoying with us our live in London. Let's go for another year with Molondo.

London's best Mexican Restaurant

As I promised you in the last post of little venice, I want to show you a cool restaurant.
Last week we had a visit and we try to do things to make their visit enjoyable, besides filling the fridge with beers and cokes..we try to do our best.

We went to have a dinner to a restaurant where you need to book in advance, they have 2 turns, but in this case is fair because they have few tables. It's located at the top of Portobello Road, after the market place.

It is a mexican restaurant recommended by a mexican friend, a guarantee of success. It didn't fail and everything was yummy. We shared everything, quesadillas, tacos, burritos, cazuelas a little bit of all, and everything was really nice. For us the best mexican restaurant we have tasted in London. I need to say that all the food was served with a jar of margaritas, how tasty and what a headache!!
The price is ok, be careful with the drinks, the only thing we didn't like was the noise, to much noise in fact.

When they finish with the last turn, they close the curtain, raise the music and more margaritas for everybody. Good plan for friday night.

Os dejo la web para reservar: http://www.santovillage.com
Here is the web to book: http://www.santovillage.com

Today I don't have pictures, my camera in the night is not good...

Little Venice - One of our favorite places in London

This weekend, with bank holiday in Spain and today monday here in Uk, we have done a London plan, we went to Canalway Cavalcade in Little Venice. It is a nice neighborhood and a "must" if you are visiting London.

A walk around the canal, is one of our favorites. The canal goes all around the north of the city, we normally walk between Paddington and Camden, crossing Little Venice, very nice stroll. The Cavalcade was in Little Venice.
